Meet Tara Harris—a tenacious REALTOR® who’s built a reputation as a top performer in the region.
Originally, from Annapolis, MD, Tara earned degrees in business administration and marketing from American University in Washington, DC. She spent the early years of her career climbing the ladder in corporate America. She worked for several Fortune 500 companies, including Coca-Cola and WR Grace.
Then, after becoming a mother, Tara began to reevaluate her longterm career goals. In 2017, when the opportunity to make a change presented itself, Tara decided to take a leap of faith and get into real estate. It’s a field she had always wanted to pursue, as she grew up the daughter of a hard-working single mother who always dreamt of homeownership. Tara even remembers touring open houses on weekends as a kid with her mom.
Tara felt compelled to work in a field where she could help people achieve what her mom had always struggled so hard to attain. Plus, with a strong business background and passion for working with people, real estate felt like the perfect fit.
Today, as a valued member of The Bob & Ronna Group, Tara genuinely cares about her clients. She says, “I prioritize building relationships and building trust. I really try to dig deep into learning about my clients and their needs. And even though I come from a business background, this is never just a transaction for me.”
When working with home sellers, Tara consistently achieves impressive results, garnering 2%, on average, over list price. Since 2017, she’s notched more than $53 million in sales. To achieve this kind of success, Tara urges home sellers to price their house right the first time it hits the market. She advises, “Pricing your home strategically for what the market can bear is crucial. And it will ultimately result in more offers and a higher profit.”
For homebuyers, Tara emphasizes the importance of establishing a relationship with a reputable lender before embarking on the house-hunting journey. She says, “Understanding your buying power and being prepared financially are essential first steps.”
With a background working with military personnel overseas, Tara recently earned her certification as a military relocation professional. She also appreciates The Bob & Ronna Group’s commitment to supporting veterans and first responders. She says, “Right from the beginning, I felt comfortable working with Bob and Ronna. They’re good people, highly organized. And our values align. They even love animals, like I do.”
When she’s not traveling the state working with clients, Tara’s busy life revolves around shuttling her son to his ice hockey practices and games, indulging in her passion for travel, decorating her home, and spending time outside on the water paddleboarding. At the end of the day, she loves coming home to relax with her son and their cockapoo, Toby.
