
Meet Margarette Gatland, an open, personable REALTORĀ® who always goes the extra mile for her clients.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Margarette moved to Maryland in the early 1990s. After settling in the suburbs and raising her three children, Margarette went back to work as a substitute teacher and a full-time classroom teacher in the Carroll County Public School System.
Then, when Maryland LIVE! Casino opened up table games, Margarette decided to change paths and went to work as a card dealer. Over time, she worked her way up to the role of āthe pencilāāwhere she managed the casinoās entire table games section.
Margaretteās got a lot of great stories from those casino days, but she says the biggest takeaway was learning how to treat everyone like theyāre specialā¦not just the ābig spenders.ā And she adopts that same approach today as a REALTORĀ® with The Bob & Ronna Groupā¦
In fact, Margarette really values the relationships she gets to develop with people from all walks of life and from all kinds of different backgrounds. She says, āMy clients invite me into their lives. I learn about their families, their hopes and dreams, and what they want their life to look like. So, it makes me feel really good knowing Iām helping them achieve such a major milestone.ā
After getting to know her clients and their āwish list,ā Margarette often encourages them to ādo their due diligence.ā For example, she says, āif youāre looking at a house near a school, you may want to check out what the traffic looks like around 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. when the busses are all arriving and departing. It can be a big deciding factor.ā
Margarette decided to join with The Bob & Ronna Group after doing lots of research and hearing rave reviews about their experienced team. She says, āWith a team this size, there are lots of people working behind the scenes to back me up. So, Iāve got lots of resources to draw upon to help my clients write winning offers and win the homes they want.ā
Margarette also makes sure to give all her clients the five-start treatment...For example, she says, āif a client has a question about an area, a builder, or the cost of a water heater, rather than pointing them toward the internetā¦I will always take the time to track down the answer and provide it to them. Again, thatās just the manifestation of the mentality I developed at Maryland LIVE! I want every person I meet to feel like theyāre the most important person that Iām helping at that time. Itās how it should be.ā
Margarette and her husband were high school sweethearts and now have three grown children together. So, their home is always bustling with lots of family, friends, and pets. In their spare time, Margarette and her husband love working outside on their 10-acre property. Her favorite flowering plants are roses, gladiolus, poppies, and lilies. And each spring, they plant a huge vegetable garden filled with tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, potatoes, and peppers. Sheās also recently discovered she loves kale. She says itās not nearly as tough or as bitter when you grow it yourself!
