Meet Joann Stamatopoulos—a skilled, insightful REALTOR® who lives by the mantra “always a student” and has a real passion for helping people.
Joann is a Maryland native who comes from a great, big, hard-working Greek family that immigrated to the United States in the 1960s and built very successful businesses from the ground up. In fact, when her grandparents arrived in America, they opened a bakery and bought a house in Greektown in southeast Baltimore, near Canton. They even owned some of the land on which Oriole Park at Camden Yards now stands.
As a young person, Joann had aspirations to go to medical school and become a doctor. But since she’d always been good with numbers, she ultimately decided to study data analytics at Purdue University.
Then, after getting her bachelor’s degree, Joann began her career working for a luxury car sales dealership in business development. Eventually, though, she decided she wanted to follow in her family’s footsteps and get into real estate…
In her first foray in the industry, Joann worked as an Assistant Business Development Manager at a real estate firm in Owings Mills. She immersed herself in studying the market trends. And she used her data analysis skills—as well as computer-aided development—to support a team of 80+ agents she managed.
A few years later, Joann decided to branch out, get her real estate license, and begin investing personally. Then, after connecting with Bob & Ronna, she knew it was time to make another change…
She says, “I have a lot of trust and confidence in Bob and Ronna. They offer unmatched value and support to each and every one of their agents. And I pass along that tremendous value, professionalism, and expertise to my clients.”
Plus, when the market is competitive, it’s more important than ever to have an experienced REALTOR® who can really crunch the numbers for the client(s). Joann definitely sees herself as “an advocate and an advisor.”
To help her clients find a good value, Joann leaves no stone unturned. She says, “As an avid investor myself, I look at houses all day long. I’m always researching different areas and neighborhoods that are up and coming. I also try to be very patient with the process, if the client already has a specific neighborhood in mind. Because in today’s tight market, patience and persistence are the two qualities that you need most.”
When not crunching the numbers and searching for those hidden gems, Joann enjoys spending time with her kids and her husband, an engineer and former marine. (Although, as Joann says, “once a marine, always a marine.”) When she has time, Joann also enjoys cooking healthy, traditional Greek foods from her childhood—like spanakopita. She’s also a huge animal advocate and has three dogs—Ziggs (a Shar Pei) and Mascha and Storme (both Akitas)—and one cat, Lily.
