Meet Cody Joy—an enthusiastic, innovative REALTOR® with the business savvy to help home buyers and sellers navigate today’s challenging real estate market.

Originally from Rochester, New York, Cody studied graphic design and business in college and eventually relocated to Maryland with Wegman’s Food Markets, Inc. Though he started out in a supporting, front-end role, he eventually worked his way up the ranks to become a Multi-Department Manager. In this role, Cody oversaw the hiring, training, inventory tracking, financial reporting, and day-to-day operations of several different multi-million dollar departments within the company.

Cody says area manager would have been the next step in the ladder. But that role would have taken him away from many of the things he loved about working at Wegmans, such as building his business, working one on one to grow his people, and acting as an expert to serve customers. So, that’s when he started thinking about shifting gears to get into real estate...

“As a REALTOR®, I’m still helping people. But now it involves helping them with more important and meaningful decisions. Which ultimately is even more fulfilling for me.” Cody also brings a hard work ethic and strong problem-solving skills to his new career in real estate…

“When my wife and I bought our first house, our agent didn't have the heart of a teacher. He didn’t explain the process or things like PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance) or what an escrow account was to us. We had to figure all that out on our own. I just felt like there was an opportunity—and a need—to do it better. Especially for first-time home buyers.”

As a full-time agent with The Bob & Ronna Group, Cody focuses on being proactive. He says it helps give his clients an edge in today’s competitive market.

So, every morning Cody gets up at 5 AM to scan all “coming soon” listings of homes about to hit the market. Then, he’ll send anything that might work to his clients to evaluate. “If my client likes a house they saw in the ‘coming soon’ list, we’ll try to get in there and be the very first ones in to see it. Because in a low inventory market, time is of the essence.”

Cody says coming from Wegman’s—which is a top-100 company in the U.S.—he has a lot of respect for The Bob & Ronna Group. “Bob and Ronna have the same high standards and level of professionalism as what you’d see at any top-100 company. And they invest a lot of time into training and supporting their agents.”

When not on the hunt for homes with his clients, Cody enjoys spending time with his wife, who’s a nurse, and their dog Diesel, a mixed-breed rescue from Kuwait. On weekends, he and his wife like playing video games like Overwatch and grabbing a bite to eat at Eggspectation® in Ellicott City or Tino’s in Columbia. Cody is also an avid collector, seller and ambassador of “modern indie comics.” and he loves going to see live Rock concerts. He won't miss a show if Journey, Foreigner, Foo Fighters, The Killers or Weezer are in town. He still hasn’t seen Bon Jovi in concert—but he’s next on his list if he ever comes around.
