Meet Brendon Twilley, the straight-talking, no-nonsense, jack-of-all-trades that you want to bring to any home negotiation.
Brendon’s hands-on training began during his teen years—when he started working during the summers and winter breaks doing home improvement, construction, and other odd jobs. In fact, he even earned enough to pay for half his tuition at Mount St. Joe’s High School, where he was a standout linebacker on the football team.
After graduating in 2006 from MSJ, Brendon attended trade school and began working as a car mechanic. Eventually, he worked his way up to lead mechanic at a local Chevrolet dealership. But at that point, Brendon knew it was time to head back to the classroom. (He paid his way through college by managing DePaola’s Pub in Halethorpe and doing other odd jobs along the way.)
After getting his degree in IT/Cybersecurity, Brendon came to the tough realization that he didn’t want to sit at a desk staring at a computer all day. So, his aunt suggested he consider becoming a real estate agent to utilize his strong background in home improvement and construction. And he’d always been an easygoing, down-to-earth “people person”—as his customers at DePaola’s could tell you.
In his early years in the real estate world, Brendon had a lot of help from his Aunt Melissa and Uncle Ben (both licensed Realtors), teaching him about the industry. He learned how to find the hidden gems for buyers, prepare homes for quick sales, and oversee short sales and foreclosures. Eventually, as his business began to flourish, some trusted colleagues recommended he join up with The Bob & Ronna Group.
“Everyone in the industry knows of Bob and Ronna,” says Brendon. “They’re very highly regarded by agents, home buyers, and home sellers as genuine, good people you can trust. I just felt like it was the right time to join the big leagues.”
In today’s competitive market, Brendon spends a lot of time upfront educating his home buyers and sellers about the challenging process on which they’re about to embark. Brendon says, “It’s one of the biggest purchases they’re ever going to make in their entire life. So, I try to prepare them for the path forward.”
Brendon will also steer his buyers away from falling for a home that may show well with stylish paint and modern decorating…but isn’t well-built or well-maintained. “I call it putting lipstick on a pig,” says Brendon. To make matters worse, a lot of people in today’s market seem willing to settle for something less than their ideal. “But,” he says, “I don’t sugar coat it. I tell it like it is. And we can always find something better in their price range.”
When not driving a hard deal for his clients, Brendon enjoys spending time with his son on his boat exploring the Magothy River, Dobbins Island, and Kent Narrows.
