Meet award-winning Chinese journalist and realty expert, Betty Ban.

Betty’s career has been complex to say the least. Multifaceted and undeniably successful, her career has spanned multiple countries and industries. As a journalist in her home country of China, Betty received multiple awards. Shortly after moving to the United States in 2001, she earned her MBA. Ironically, she says, “I don’t use it much.” However, she did come out of the experience with deep knowledge of the business world that has served her well. When it comes to journalism, Betty’s grateful for her ability to get close with people quickly and easily; a valuable skill in real estate. “It’s challenging because everyone is so different,” Betty says.

Betty’s interests are as varied as her career, ranging from the Christian teachings and traditional Chinese dance to cooking and martial arts. “I cook every day,” she says, “I like most food… I can’t have a favorite because everything is too good!” When asked about her favorite book, Betty says, “I don’t have time to read any book except the Bible.” Betty attends Bible study every Friday, church on Sunday, and prayer meeting on Wednesday.

Betty’s hobbies of Tai Chi, Kung Fu, and traditional Chinese folk dance double as opportunities to connect with potential clients. “At least 80% of my clients speak a first language that isn’t english,” Betty says. As a fluent speaker of both Mandarin and Cantonese, Betty understands that offering her real estate expertise to non-native english speakers is a vital community service.

After some time working independently, Betty decided to join The Bob and Ronna Group to try working with a team. And since joining, she’s had no regrets. Betty looks up to Bob and Ronna. “I learn from them every day,” she says.

Betty doesn’t have any pets yet, but her rebellious, 11-year-old daughter is definitely rooting for one.
